PLAYOFF INFORMATION ANNOUNCED!

Hi there,

We’ve already reached the halfway point of the Spring Major – you know what that means; it’s time to start thinking about the playoffs! We’ve been monitoring the number of active rosters/players for each game, and are ready to share the playoff line for each leaderboard.

In line with last fall, more students will experience the playoffs than ever before! All Spring Major competitions will feature two playoff brackets.

First, let’s talk about Rocket League (both 2v2 and 3v3):

We have heard your feedback about playoff match times in MSEL and are experimenting this season with separate “Atlantic” and “Pacific” playoff brackets for Rocket League. The Atlantic bracket will be populated by schools in states in the Eastern or Central time zones; while the Pacific bracket will be populated by schools in the Mountain or Pacific time zones. If you have any concerns about your school’s placement (e.g. you reside in the small portion of Texas that uses Mountain time), please contact us to let us know!

For all other games, we will create a championship bracket for the top-seeded students/teams, followed by a “Redemption Road”  tournament where lower-seeded teams can still compete in a playoff experience. All playoff brackets lead to trophies and medals!

The playoffs (excluding Minecraft) will be a single elimination bracket with matches played from 4/10-4/26. You can find the full playoff guide for all games here.

Please note, rosters/students must play a minimum of six regular season matches in order to be considered for playoff qualification. Additionally, per rule 2.11.7.1, any unplayed matches at the end of the season will be converted to losses for the purposes of breaking ties and seeding the playoffs. If your students miss any matches (e.g. Spring Break), don’t forget we have make-up days at the end of the season!

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Thank you,

The MSEL Competition Team
