Registration is now open for the HSEL 2023 Spring Major! We’ve been hard at work over the past few months upgrading the HSEL experience for coaches and students. We put together this quick video to highlight some of the things we’re most excited about for the spring:
In short,
Rocket League and Valorant competitions will remain regional
Expanded playoff experiences are here to stay (“Redemption Road” and “Bounceback Invitational”)
Additionally, we made some upgrades to the web app!
Registering for a tournament is now much simpler
It is easier to scout your opponent’s match history
Unlimited school passes can now be purchased from the web app.
The preseason begins on January 23rd, so register now! For the full list of games, queue times, and instructions on how to register, head over to the Spring Major page.
We've made the difficult decision to remove Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from the HSEL lineup this spring. The publisher now requires all participants to be 18 years of age or older, which limits those eligible for participation.
Rule Updates
Based on coach feedback, we have made a number of smaller changes to competition rules as well.
- Spectating in Rocket League (no more personnel restrictions)
- The “Stoppage of Play” rule in Valorant
- Firmed up language regarding queuing for a match and beginning play.
League of Legends competitions will once again be offered on a state-by-state within HSEL. States with 16+ schools registered by 2/4 will unlock their own tournament. Any teams whose states do not reach this threshold will be moved to the Generation Esports Youth Winner’s Circle. Register early to ensure your state unlocks its tournament!
Youth Winner's Circle
Looking for more competitions? The Generation Esports Youth Winner’s Circle competitions are open to anyone ages 13-18, and feature popular options such as Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Rocket League (2v2), and more! Find the full list of games and queue times here.
